Siddons was the son of Sarah Siddons (1755-1831), the best-known tragedienne of the 18th century. He was manager of the Theatre Royal in Edinburgh from 1809-1815. "This work is taken from J.J. Engel's Ideen zu einer Mimik (Berlin 1785-1786)" and is of considerable interest for its relevance to pantomime in particular and to dance in general.
