"Maphaeus Vegius and His Thirteenth Book of the Aeneid" by Anna Cox Brinton, published in 1930 by Stanford University Press, Stanford University, California. A 4to volume (7" x 9.75"), 183 pages, devoted to Maphaeus Vegius and his continuation of Virgil's Aeneid.

The book is handsomely bound in original full purple cloth with an embossed portrait outline centered on the upper board, gilt lettering to the spine, lightly tinted purple top edge, rough-cut fore-edge, and violet endpapers. The original dust jacket, printed on violet paper with black and green lettering, is in Very Good condition and is protected in a Brodart cover. It has a tiny closed tear at the head of the spine and light sun-fading along the fore-edge and spine.

The original purple binding is described as almost as new and exceptionally bright. A particularly well-preserved copy with its original dust jacket, appealing to collectors of classical literature, Virgil studies, medieval and Renaissance literary history, and early Stanford University Press publications.
