Barbié du Bocage, published in Paris in 1790 by Bure Paine. This fascinating 18th-century work relates to the celebrated Voyage du Jeune Anacharsis and presents a collection devoted to the geography and ancient landscapes of Greece and the Mediterranean.

The book contains a written section from the title page through page xl, followed by the remainder of the volume consisting primarily of maps of the Mediterranean. Bound in full contemporary mottled brown calf with red page edges and marbled endpapers. The front and rear boards are heavily worn, with large tears through the centers and additional tears along the edges. The spine is faded but retains substantial gilt decoration, with five compartments; both original spine labels are missing. Heavy foxing extends from the title page through page xl.

A compelling 1790 French cartographic and antiquarian volume, particularly suited to collectors of ancient Greece, historical geography, Mediterranean maps, and early mapmaking.
