Published in London by Batchworth Press, this edition presents Burchell’s important account of his travels through the interior of Southern Africa.
Quarto (6.25" x 9.625"), in full dark blue publisher's cloth with gilt spine lettering. The spines are faded with a light blue tint, and the bottom corners are slightly bumped. Both volumes are protected by transparent dust jackets. Includes a frontispiece portrait of William Burchell and a foldout map showing the route of Burchell's travels at the rear of Volume I and the Eastern portion of Burchell's travels 1811-1812 at the rear of Vol. II. Numerous pages remain uncut. With the bookplate of B.J.S. Wimble. A handsome two-volume reprint of a significant early account of exploration in Southern Africa.
