"Picturesque Views of Staffordshire & Shropshire" by Frederick Calvert, published in Birmingham in 1830 by Williams Emans. The work presents picturesque views of the English counties of Staffordshire and Shropshire, making it an appealing example of early 19th-century British landscape and topographical publishing.

4to (8.5" x 10.5") 153, 135 pp. + plates. Quarter black polished leather over marbled boards. Spine with triple gilt rule as bands, gilt lettering to second compartment. The whole covered in clear packing tape as "protection" against the elements. Front and rear boards with same clear tape to hinges. Edgewear, corners bumped and rubbed, head and foot of spine chipped with loss. Small bit of foot of spine lacking. Boards scuffed and rubbed, again , bound in clear packing tape. Foxing throughout, appears heavier to plates, mostly to margins, several plates and pages with closed marginal tears. Illustrated with 65 plates including frontispieces and engraved vignettes to tile pagees, lacking 8 plates. A great reading copy or for breaking out plates.

An interesting 19th-century volume for collectors of English landscape views, topography, British scenery, and regional history.
