8vo.(6" x 9") 468 pp. Original dust jacket. Full burgundy cloth with blindstamped title to upper board, gilt lettering to spine. Top edge reddened, others deckled. Edgewear, corners bumped and rubbed, head and foot of spine ruffled with tiny closed tears to foot. Closd tear to fabric of upper board at foot, light foxing to pastedowns and endpages, inside appears clean. 5-line presentation to J.E. Hays by and signed by author in 1946 to first free endpaper. Original dust jacket in good condiotion although having small closed tears to edges, small chips lacking at folds, somewhat soiled, with a 2" x 1" chip loss at the foot of upper board where issue with cover is, otherwise complete and intact.
