4to.(7.875x10") 3 volumes, 1801, 02, 13. Daniel, William B. London: Buny & Gold. Half brown leather with ample corners, single gilt rule to leather edges, over green cloth boards. Spines with five gilt decorated raised bands, gilt title to gilt bordered second compartment, gilt author/vol# to gilt bordered fourth, gilt "Union Club" device to gilt framed sixth compartment with gilt place/date within gilt frame to foot, remaining compartments with single gilt rule frames. Marbled endpapers, top edges gilt. Bookplate of Union Club to front pastedowns. Each volumes features an engraved title page, supplement with engraved frontispiece of a Black Swan and another of Rev Daniels. All plates as called for, totaling 72. List of subscribers to supplement volume. Vol I - 383 pp.+ index, Vol II - 520 pp. + index, Suppl - 507 pp. + Index (+ extra plate with explanation of worms in dog's tongue and their removal.) Spines slightly sun-faded to a pleasing brown (see pic). Minor edgewear, bottom of boards rubbed, corners bumped, some rubbed, two with minor loss to tips. Vol I and Suppl. with minor wear to boards, rubbing (see pic). Overall, a beautiful 3 volume set, with dozens of beautiful engravings.

From Wiki: William Barker Daniel (1754–1833) was an English cleric and writer on field sports. Daniel indulged in sporting tastes to a degree which shocked even a tolerant age. A correspondent in the Gentleman's Magazine of 1802 wrote of him as "fitter to act the character of Nimrod than that of a dignitary in the church of England". At the end of 1833 he died in Garden Row, within the rules of the King's Bench, where he had resided for 20 years. Daniel's Rural Sports appeared in 2 vols. in 1801, dedicated to Joseph Holden Strutt, M.P., and became a hit with sportsmen of the beginning of the century. The book is a compilation with some original matter. Hunting, coursing, and shooting were fully described with plates. A new edition in 3 vols. was issued in 1812, and a supplementary volume in 1813, dedicated to the Marquis of Blandford, a miscellaneous collection with a bibliography of angling (from Henry Ellis). Ralph Payne-Gallwey noted the book as one of the earliest accounts of shooting wildfowl from a punt.
