"The Journal of Thomas Williams, Missionary in Fiji, 1840–1853" by G. C. Henderson, published in Sydney, Australia, by Angus & Robertson Ltd. in 1931. This two-volume work documents the experiences and observations of missionary Thomas Williams in Fiji during the mid-nineteenth century, offering a historical perspective on Fijian society, culture, and missionary activity in the South Pacific.

Two complete quarto volumes (6" x 9.5"), with 660 pages consecutively numbered. Bound in full maroon cloth with embossed rules framing the upper covers and gilt lettering to the spines. Illustrated with a photographic frontispiece in Volume I and 45 additional photographic plates, including one in color. Both original dust jackets are lacking.

Condition shows edgewear, lightly bumped and rubbed corners, and ruffled spine ends with tiny closed tears. Volume I has a sun-faded spine and splotches and staining to the boards; Volume II is in notably better condition. Foxing appears along the text edges and intermittently throughout the pages, mostly in the margins. Previous ownership notes in old ink, dated Christmas 1933, appear at the head of the first free endpapers.

An informative illustrated set for collectors and researchers interested in Fijian history, nineteenth-century missionary accounts, and the cultural history of the Pacific Islands.
