Church History of Geneva, In Five Books. As Also a Political and Geographical Account of That Republick

A 1732 Boston edition of Andrew Le Mercier’s history of the Church of Geneva, tracing religion in the city from the pre-Christian period through the arrival of Christianity, the succession of Geneva’s bishops, the Roman Catholic period, and the Protestant Reformation. The work also discusses the later organization, government, discipline, ministers, and customs of the Genevan church. The volume also contains a separately titled geographical and political account of the Republic of Geneva, describing its location, public buildings, Lake Geneva, the Rhône, trade, academy, territories, fortifications, and political interests, while correcting errors the author found in earlier English and French accounts.
