4to.(8.5" x 11") 3 volumes. Full brown publisher's cloth with blindstamp rule frameing covers with a centered fancy floral frame centered to each board. Spine with five compartments separated with thick multi-rule gilt bands, gilt author/title to second compartment, gilt subtitle to third compartment, gilt publisher at foot. Edgewear, corners bumped and rubbed with loss to tips, head and foot of spine inelegantly repaired with black tape, still chipped with small loss affecting gilt. Repairs made to vol.I spine affecting text of title, lower fifth of ech cover with lighter stains, maybe dampstains (?) (see pic), not affecting the inside text. Front gutters of each text book strengthened with tape. Both volumes with uncut pages. Atlas contains 6 large folding maps that when put together, create one huge map. Closed tears to folds of maps. Other than the condition issues of the covers, all elsemay be considered VERY GOOD.

From Wiki: Samuel Lewis (c. 1782 – 1865) was the editor and publisher of topographical dictionaries and maps of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. The aim of the texts was to give in 'a condensed form', a faithful and impartial description of each place. The firm of Samuel Lewis and Co. was based in London. Samuel Lewis the elder died in 1865. His son of the same name predeceased him in 1862.
