4to (8.5" x 10.125") 1925. Fourth Edition. Litchfield, Frederick. London: A.& C. Black, Ltd. Quarter red leather over lighter red cloth boards. Spine with five gilt decorated, raised bands. Gilt title to gilt bordered second compartment, gilt author to gilt framed third, double gilt rule frames with gilt dot corners to all others. Marble endpapers, top edge gilt. Head and tail of spine rubbed with tiny closed tears to the top. One corner bumped, all slightly rubbed. Covers with sun fade (see pics). Overall, a beautiful reference book for Pottery and/or Porcelain collectors.

Frederick Litchfield (1850-1930) was a well-known furniture expert whose other works include Pottery and Porcelain: A Guide to Collectors and How to Collect Old Furniture. The popularity of his Illustrated History of Furniture on its publication was such that seven editions were produced between the years 1892 and 1922.
