Ludovico Pontano (1409–1439), also known as Ludovicus Pontanus Romanus, was an Italian jurist, professor of law, and papal auditor celebrated for his profound contributions to both canon and civil jurisprudence; educated at Perugia and Bologna, he taught at Siena and later served in the Papal Curia, where his major work Singularia Juris—a systematic collection of legal opinions and interpretations—became a cornerstone of 15th-century legal scholarship, influencing generations of European jurists before his untimely death from plague in Basel.
