Edgewear, corners bumped and rubbed, three through to boards. Foot of spine chipped with loss of bottom 2", further chipping along upper joint. Ex-library from Bibliotheca MT. ST. Alphonsus , Esopus, N.Y. with blue ink stamps to rear of first free flyleaf, foot of leaf 37, card pocket to rear pastedown. Ink stains to gutters of first few leaves and rear hinge, not affecting text or images. First free endpaper and flyleaf chipped to edges with small loss. Engraved title page with excised margins, tipped in. Several leaves with marginal tears, affecting plates or letters. Multiple leaves with early paper repairs to margins, a couple of plates evidently tipped in. Lacking leaves 42 and 125, so 158 0f 160 plates. Leaves 7, 8 mis-bound toward front, but present. Leaves 1, 32, 55, 109, and 152 with larger tears, or chipped margins, affecting plates and letters. Italian Language. Granted, a rough looking book with condition issues and loss, but the early 17th century plates that are there (158!) are pretty phenomenal.
