From the Web: The Forest Rose Mine, located near Hall, Montana, is within the Dunkleberg Mining District, which is now part of the Deerlodge National Forest. It was first discovered in 1884 by Frank Carnes. The Forest Rose Mine is an underground mining operation that focuses on extracting various minerals from the Earth. These minerals include sphalerite, chalcopyrite, and anglesite, while the waste material primarily consists of pyrite, limonite, and quartz. The ore body of the mine is irregularly shaped, with a width of approximately 0.30 meters (0.98 feet). The surrounding area is characterized by the geological features of the Northern Rocky Mountains physiographic province, which is part of the broader Rocky Mountain System. The host rock in this area consists of shale that formed during the Upper Cretaceous epoch, dating back 100.50 to 66.00 million years ago.
